Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND)

The South View Federation are inclusive schools who are committed to ensuring that all pupils make the best possible progress. Our schools are supported by the Local Authority to be as inclusive as possible, with the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities being met in a mainstream setting wherever possible.  Alongside this we also provide for the gifted and talented children with targeted planning and special programmes and activities to further develop their skills.

All pupils benefit from a range of teaching and learning styles; a differentiated curriculum; a range of differentiated learning materials (both for reinforcement and extension); assessment procedures that emphasise pupils’ strengths and achievements; access to ICT; differentiated interventions as needed and a broad range of extra-curricular activities (including residential visits in Year 5 and 6).

We have the additional support of 2 Resourced Provisions at each school.  1 for children who have an EHCP for Special Education Needs for Speech and Language Communication Needs and 1 for children who have an EHCP for MLD.  Both provisions support pupils across the school and is one of the local authority’s provision for primary pupils with SLCN or MLD.  The resources are accommodated within the main school buildings and is purposely adapted to facilitate the inclusion of children with disordered language or MLD in the mainstream school.  Support is provided by experienced teachers and qualified specialist support staff.
