Hampshire County Council Music Service - Year 4
Dear Parents/Carers of South View Junior School
We are delighted that your child will be learning a woodwind or brass instrument as part of Beyond the Beat. This exciting provision, delivered by Hampshire Music Service, enables your child to learn to play a musical instrument through both instrumental lessons and ensemble sessions, culminating in a fantastic concert at the end of the autumn term.
The information below is to confirm the day of the sessions which will be a mixture of instrumental lessons and ensemble rehearsals.

Your child will be bringing an instrument home with them to practise. In order for us to allocate an instrument, please follow the link below to agree to the terms of this.
Beyond the Beat Instrument Hire Agreement
There is no cost to parents for the hire of this instrument. In order to gain maximum progress, it is really important that your child engages in the provision by playing their instrument at home.
Please be reassured that it is very rare for an instrument to get damaged. If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us: music.service@hms.hants.gov.uk

Please do encourage your child to perform to you, and to play regularly at home – they will be so pleased to show you what they have learnt! It will also really help to support their progress and you will notice huge improvements in their playing.
Please ensure that your child brings their instrument back into school for their Beyond the Beat sessions as shown above. Your child will be shown how to look after the instrument they are bringing home, but if you require further help with this, please do let us know.
With thanks for your support in what is set to be an exciting and musical term!
Best wishes
Melissa Smith
