Science Week 2026

British Science Week 2026

The 6th -15th March is British Science Week: a celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths. This year’s science week theme is ‘Curiosity, what’s your Question?’ and we will be following this theme by learning about the different scientific careers children could pursue as adults. We will be thinking about the questions that people in different science careers (e.g., dentists, vets, farmers etc) need to ask to do their jobs. We will also be taking part in investigations and learning from expert scientists.

As well as celebrating Science Week through activities at school, the British Science Week team are holding a poster competition that your child can enter. A team of scientists and researchers are curious about what children and young people think a positive childhood in the future might look like. The winners’ posters will be awarded a prize and be used to help scientists with some very important research!

Details for your child's poster entry are as follows:

Think about the following and create a poster in A4 or A3 to share your ideas:

  • What things make your life positive now?
  • What people, places, things, occasions, interests or activities do you enjoy?
  • What did a good/positive childhood look like in the past? You could interview your parents or grandparents!
  • If you choose to have children in the future, what might a good childhood look like for them? What will they be playing/eating/learning/thinking?
  • What do children in other countries around the world enjoy? How is this the same/different to what makes your life positive?

If you would like to enter the competition, please send your entries into school by the 12th April. Further information about the competition can be found at britishscienceweek.org.

We look forwarded to celebrating science week with you!
