Local Area SEND Partnership
The Local Area SEND Partnership, which encompasses all services and organisations that support children with SEND, is, like schools, subject to inspection. Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission (CQC) will be visiting the local area to undertake a Local Area Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) inspection from 16 to 20 November, with some of the inspection activity taking place remotely the week beforehand.
This inspection by Ofsted and CQC considers not just education, but the range of services available to children and young people with SEND, and families’ experiences of working with those services to secure better outcomes. This includes NHS organisations such as CAMHS, occupational therapy and physiotherapy, as well as schools, Children’s Services, parent support networks and other services and support.
Importantly, Ofsted and CQC would like to hear from families of children and young people with SEND. Your child does not need to have an EHC plan, or be going through the EHC needs assessment process, for you to share your experiences. If your child receives SEN support or other help to meet their additional needs without an EHC plan, inspectors would like to hear from you too. They would like to know about your experiences of school, services and support: how helpful they have been for you and your child, how well they have worked with you as a family, what support has been available and what you feel could be improved further.
The survey is quite short, with mainly tick-box answers and some opportunities to provide additional comments.
It is a really important opportunity to ensure your voice is heard and to help inspectors understand the experiences of children, young people and families across Hampshire, helping to shape the future of SEND provision and support in our County.
The survey for parents, carers, children and young people can be found here:
