NSPCC Number Day 2025 – The Perfect Split
Fri 07 Feb 2025Dear Parents
NSPCC Number Day 2025 – The Perfect Split
We are delighted that The South View Federation will be taking part in NSPCC Number Day on Friday 7th February 2025.
The theme for this year is ‘Greater Than; Less Than; and Equal To’. There will be fun based maths challenges all about what these statements mean. These will based on the book ‘The Perfect Split’ by Lori Haskins Houran’.
Number Day is a great way to make maths fun and bring a positive, “can-do” attitude towards it. As part of the fun, pupils are invited to dress up representing a number for the day.
We look forward to seeing the children representing numbers.
Yours sincerely

MyHappymind
Thu 30 Jan 2025Dear Parents,
We have introduced a program to all year groups at school called myHappymind. myHappymind is all based around helping children to understand how their brain works and to support them in developing positive skills and habits to be their very best selves!
myHappymind is delivered in schools by class teachers through a series of interactive lessons and then the children apply these learnings throughout the day.
To further embed this learning, myHappymind has developed a Parent App. These resources can be accessed online on your computer, or through an app on your phone. The Parent App will support you as a parent in understanding what your child is learning, activities for you to do together at home and also a Kids Zone featuring myHappymind Games plus much more!
To access these materials just go to https://myhappymind.org/parent-resources to create your free account. You will need to enter your name, email, and authentication code.
Your authentication code is
115975 for the Infant and Nursery School
115860 for the Junior School
Or simply scan this QR code to sign up
Once you have created your account, you will receive an email with the next steps on downloading the app.
We really encourage you to make use of this free content so that you can support your child in getting the best out of the curriculum.
There is also a three minute parent introduction video, produced by myHappymind. Please click on the link below:

Year 6 Mock SATs next week - 13th January 2025
Mon 13 Jan 2025Dear Parents,
Mock SATs
Next week, the children will be completing Mock SATs papers and the timetable is detailed at the bottom of this letter. We understand that children often worry about SATs so we give them this experience as a practice and for reassurance. It also enables us, as teachers, to recognise gaps in knowledge and understanding. This helps us to focus our teaching better, in the spring term, in preparation for the real thing.
Please try to ensure that your child attends school for the week and arrives on time. It is important that your child is prepared for this week. They need to be eating and sleeping properly and drinking lots of water in order to stand the best chance of performing to their potential.
Finally, the most important thing approaching the SATs is that your child is happy. To this end, we will only ever ask them to do their best and we are sure that you will be reinforcing this message at home.
Yours sincerely
Mrs N Backham Mrs K McGuinnity

Support for families NOT on Free School Meals
Fri 13 Dec 2024Dear Parents and Carers,
Support for families NOT on Free School Meals
Under the Connect4communities-ProgrammeSupport-for-Vulnerable-Families, we have been fortunate enough to secure some money to provide support for parents/carers who may be struggling during these difficult times. To enable us to use this money for the benefit of as many families as possible, we have provided a form for you to complete if you feel you would benefit from some support.
Please note, any information you include will only be seen by a few key staff.
The help can be provided in a number of different ways for the following:
- Food e.g. food voucher for Christmas holiday
- Kitchen essentials e.g. Kettle, toaster, microwave, sandwich toaster
- Items to keep warm - localised heating (oil filled radiator/electric heater) hot water bottles, blankets/duvets
- Wider essentials e.g. school uniform, clothing, sanitary products, hygiene/cleaning products
Anyone can apply for some support, you do not need to be on benefits or free school meals.
If you think that we would be able to help in some way, please complete the form by clicking this link.
This form will close on Monday 16th December - 12 midday, to allow us time to distribute support before we break up for Christmas.
With best wishes,
Mrs Sheila Pape
Executive Headteacher

Federation Christmas Jumper Day
Fri 13 Dec 2024Dear Parents and Carers,
On Friday 13th December, the federation will be taking part in Christmas Jumper Day. All children can come to school wearing a Christmas jumper. This is just for fun and is not to raise money for charity.
Remember, there’s no need to buy a new jumper. You could upcycle an old jumper, decorate a jumper or head to your local charity shop to buy a pre-loved festive knit.
We look forward to seeing lots of children dressed in festive jumpers. The rest of their uniform should be as it usually is.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Sheila Pape
