  • Roblox - Warning

    Thu 27 Nov 2025

We have been made aware of a pop-up that is appearing on Roblox, encouraging children to download an app called pollybuzz (or pollyfuzz in some spelling cases). The app seems quite simple where children are asked questions, and it generates an Artificial Intelligence ‘friend’ – this starts off quite innocently but then begins to show extreme content (including suicide, self-harm and pornography).

Please remind children about not clicking on pop-ups in games and to report anything that is worrying or inappropriate to a trusted adult. Roblox has parental controls and instructions of how to put these on can be accessed via this link:

Parental Controls Overview – Roblox Support .

Please remember parental controls will stop some pop-ups, but not all, so appropriate supervision is still required.

  • Cake Sale - Junior School Only

    Thu 20 Nov 2025

    Dear Parents,

We are excited to be able to hold our annual cake sale again this year! It will be held on Thursday 20th   November and is an opportunity to raise money for the school.

This week, your child will be bringing home a paper plate on which we ask you to make donations of cakes or biscuits for the sale. If you are donating pre-packaged cakes, please can they be brought in on Wednesday 19th November. If you are donating fresh cakes, please can they be brought in on Thursday 20th November. Please can all donations be brought to the food technology room in the main corridor.

We will also be running a cake competition for the children. Every year, the standard of cakes just gets better and better! This year, the theme will be animals! The children’s entries could be their favourite animal, pet, a zoo scene or sea creatures!

Also, to raise money we will be running a children’s and adult’s raffle which we would really appreciate donations for. We ask that raffle items be brought into school on Wednesday 19th November.

I will send another letter with further details about when your child’s class will be visiting the sale.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

  • South View Federation Harvest Appeal 2025

    Mon 03 Nov 2025

    Dear Parents,

South View Federation will be taking part in this year’s Harvest appeal for the Basingstoke Foodbank.

The Basingstoke Foodbank collects donations from a variety of schools across Basingstoke.  These donations support local families through difficult winter months and well into the spring. Basingstoke Foodbank relies solely on voluntary donations to help keep their foodbank running for the community.

Taking part in the Harvest appeal means we could all make a real difference and offer support to local families in need.  Without the help of voluntary donations, foodbanks would struggle to operate and this is why your support is needed more than ever this Harvest.

Attached to this letter is a Harvest shopping list. Please take note of the foods that are most needed and running low. If at all possible, please avoid the items that they do not require. We’d like everyone to take part, so please send your child into school with at least one item from the Harvest appeal shopping list to help support the work of the Basingstoke Foodbank.

Please bring all items into school on Monday 10th November 2025.

If you would like to find out more information about the Harvest appeal please visit: https://basingstoke.foodbank.org.uk/

    Best wishes

    Miss F Rogers & Mrs P Dyer
